Heat Pump Repair

One machine, two seasons. When it stops switching cleanly between them, this is where it gets fixed.

It works both ways, so it runs more hours than a cooling-only system

A straight air conditioner has one job and rests for half the year. A heat pump has two: it pulls heat out of the house every summer afternoon and pulls heat back into it every winter morning, using a reversing valve to swap which coil is doing the work. That valve, and the defrost cycle that clears frost off the outdoor coil in cold weather, are the two components that simply do not exist on a cooling-only system, and they are also the two most common points of failure. Because the unit is working through more of the calendar than a standalone furnace-and-AC pairing, wear that would take years to show up on a seasonal system shows up sooner here.

Why it usually shows up as a comfort complaint first

A failing reversing valve rarely announces itself with a bang. More often a room just stops catching up: it gets close to the setpoint and stalls, or it runs long cycles that used to be short ones, or the air coming out of the vent is warm when it should be cool by now. A stuck defrost cycle on the outdoor unit reads the same way from inside the house, a slow loss of performance rather than a dead system. We diagnose from that comfort complaint backward to the actual fault, on all major makes and models, rather than starting by assuming the compressor is the problem.

One system, several kinds of machine

A heat pump does not sit in its own separate category in the way we work. It is one line on an equipment list that also includes electric and gas furnaces, straight air conditioning, mini-splits and geothermal, and we service all of them on the same visit-based model: diagnose the actual fault, repair what can be repaired, and say plainly when a system is past the point where repair is the honest answer.

The same reversing logic, built into our own equipment

This is a Black Diamond R32 condenser on a level pad beside a Cypress home, one of our own private-label systems rather than a resold commodity unit. A repair call does not require the system to be one of ours, but when a heat pump on our own line does need service, the same team that wrote the specification is the one standing in front of it.

Financing is available on repair, replacement and installation for customers who qualify. Financing available with approved credit. Minimum loan amount of $1,000 to $3,000 based on loan approval.

Not sure if it is the heat pump or the thermostat

Say what the room is doing and roughly when it started. That is usually enough to tell whether it is worth a diagnostic visit or a five-minute fix over the phone. See the full service list, or send details through the contact page and a technician will follow up.
